It is my belief that Art Education is basic to an individual's perception and understanding of the world in which we live. Creative learning enables students to interpret these perceptions in visual form. Art Education teaches students to respect and appreciate their own interpretations and those of others.
It is my hope that the art program here in District 96 helps each student to develop positive attitudes toward self, others and the environment through creative experiences. Problem solving and creative learning encourages the student to relate visual knowledge to other core subjects and to respond with originality, appreciation, flexibility and imagination. The use and application of skills, processes and mediums encourages self-expression, creative growth, discovery, and the realization of ideas. I believe that every child is an artist and it is my goal to facilitate an environment that challenges students to think visually and create works of art that they are proud of.

Ms. Klausa has been teaching art since 2004 and is excited to be a part of District 96. Before she came to Riverside she taught at Willowbrook High School and in the Hinsdale and Villa Park/Lombard elementary district. She spends her time outside of school attempting DIY projects, enjoying time with her husband Jon and three kiddos, Mary, Auggie, and Milos. She paints and dabbles in printmaking for other gallery shows that she participates in the Chicagoland area.
