Fourth grade is working hard on constructing their miniature houses. I can't wait to see these tiny constructions among the gardens in Riverside providing residence to fairies and gnomes.
Students in the art studio are having a blast with lending a hand making pom pom garlands in spare moments between projects. It's great fine motor practice and festive. If you're interested in having a pom pom bowl at your house that inspires fine motor development you can find the materials here and here!
HOUR OF CODE is here
Students at Ames were introduced to The Hour of Code this week. Learning the basics of computer programming kindergarten-second grade students had the opportunity to try their hand using computer science to solve puzzles and build games using characters from pop culture like Star Wars and Angry Birds. If your students are interested in expanding their knowledge at home they can use the links below to keep their learning on going.
Give it a try yourself!
While in class this week 4th and 5th graders are learning about artists that use typography in their works of art.
The worksheet below was distributed in class and should be completed by next week. Download from below if you have misplaced it or you would like to start over. Email Mrs. Klausa if you have any troubles or concerns at: email@example.com

Everyone worked so hard last year with our visiting artist, Bob Fritz to create our masterpiece. Thank you so much to all of our volunteers and of course our Ames PTA for making it all possible.
