While in class this week 4th and 5th graders are learning about artists that use typography in their works of art.
Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and appealing when displayed. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces, point size, line length, line-spacing (leading), letter-spacing (tracking), and adjusting the space within letters pairs (kerning). Many artists use text in their artworks. We discussed Robert Indiana's iconic work, Love at length. You as an artist were asked to choose a four letter word that would describe your wish for our community. Using your prior knowledge of the elements and principles of design you are to create a work of art that combines your craftsmanship, ingenuity, and conceptual art skills to create a 12x12" work of art that wows. |
The worksheet below was distributed in class and should be completed by next week. Download from below if you have misplaced it or you would like to start over. Email Mrs. Klausa if you have any troubles or concerns at: [email protected]
